Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Engine Components
Our client, an innovative leader in the power generation industry, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering organization focused on developing and implementing replacement components for large industrial engine assets.
This is a highly visible opportunity to help establish an in-house mechanical design capability and play a key role in building a strategic aftermarket parts program from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop replacement components for large industrial engines and related equipment
- Reverse engineer existing parts and create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation
- Evaluate component performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, manufacturability, and cost
- Partner with external manufacturers, machine shops, and suppliers to bring designs from concept through production
- Support component testing, qualification, and implementation across operating assets
- Establish engineering standards and processes for an expanding mechanical design program
- Provide technical expertise on engine components and manufacturing methods
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- Experience designing mechanical components for heavy industrial equipment, engines, compressors, rotating equipment, or power generation systems
- Experience with components such as pistons, cylinders, valves, cylinder heads, castings, or machined parts is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining and fabrication
- Proficiency in CAD modeling and preparation of engineering drawings and specifications
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external manufacturing partners
