The Project Engineer supports the planning, execution, and delivery of capital and process improvement projects within an industrial manufacturing facility. This role ensures projects are designed, engineered, and implemented safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational goals. The engineer collaborates closely with maintenance, operations, quality, EHS, and external vendors to drive equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and process optimization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full project lifecycle, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contractor coordination, installation, and commissioning.
- Develop technical documentation such as equipment specifications, drawings, P&IDs, project plans, and cost estimates.
- Provide engineering support for liquid manufacturing processes, including mixing, batching, pumping, storage, transfer systems, and associated utilities.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for process, mechanical, or structural issues and recommend solutions to improve reliability, safety, and plant throughput.
- Ensure all project work complies with applicable codes, standards, and internal engineering guidelines.
- Coordinate and oversee contractors to ensure safe work practices and adherence to project specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and equipment upgrades.
- Support development and implementation of preventive maintenance and asset reliability strategies.
- Prepare and present project status updates, technical reports, and justification documents to leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, preferably involving liquid processing, fluid handling, or bulk material systems.
- Working knowledge of pumps, tanks, piping systems, valves, instrumentation, and structural/mechanical design principles.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
