January 2022 Job Market Report
I hope your 2022 is off to a good start! The number of open engineering jobs has grown rapidly since November of 2021. Our tops clients gave us additional orders and other clients emerged from dormancy to add even more jobs! Many engineers are retiring this year or next. We have received several jobs looking for Senior Engineers to overlap with Engineers who will be retiring in 6 – 12 months. Smart clients are thinking ahead especially for those Subject Matter Expert level roles. Many Engineers have changed jobs due to the increased availability of the work from home option which is attractive enough to many people to resign a plant based job. Another factor creating more openings, is the hiring of chemical industry engineers into Tesla Battery Factories and Amazon Warehouses. They offer Engineers a chance to be in a new industry and perhaps a new geographic location too where there are no chemical plants(such as Austin, TX). Many CHE’s who are looking actively and who are open to multiple geographies are getting multiple interviews and in some cases multiple job offers. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the market.
