Our client is a large refinery that is building an in house group of SIS expertise. The site is moving to two platforms. For exisiting Foxboro units that are being upgraded to a Emerson DeltaV DCS system, the SIS will be an intergrated DeltaV SIS logic solver. For existing Honeywell DCS systems and other stand alone SIS applications, the site is using Triconex logic solvers. They are planning major capital updgrades to the DCS/SIS system over the next several years. This is an opportunity to be involved in a large and ongoing expansion of the SIS capabilities. Role synopsis : You will play a key role in supporting the sites implementation of ANSI/ISA-84.01-2004 for upgrades of existing interlocks, protective systems, and the design and implementation of new SIS’s. This position will have primary responsibility for management of the functional safety and functional safety assessment phases of the safety lifecycle and will support the Group Leader in the development and maintenance of site technical practices. Key functions of this position will include participating in hazard risk analysis including Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOP) and Layers of Protection Analys is (LOPA), participating in design reviews of safety instrumented functions (SIF’s), performing functional safety reviews, and auditing compliance with internal and external standards related to SIS.
Qualifications :
- This position requires extensive knowledge in the design, maintenance, and operational support of Safety Instrumented Systems per ANSI/ISA-84.00.01-2004.
- 10 + years instrument and controls experience with at least a minimum of 5 years in the area of Safety Instrumented Systems required
- Strong working knowledge of process hazard analysis techniques such as LOPA and HAZOP.
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering with a preference for electrical engineering.
- Ability to work with multi-discipline teams and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
- Self starter and be capable of making wise decision and taking the lead to influence change.
