As a project engineer at a major refinery you will focus on project execution, communications and coordination with all stakeholders for projects executed within the refinery Projects Group. In addition, the project engineer shall be a primary contact for approvals. You key duties will include:
- Promoting safety leadership and delivery on an injury free project.
- Ensuring the Technical integrity of the project, including compliance with the project scope, job specification, accepted good engineering design, and meeting client requirements.
- Administering, planning, coordinating and monitoring the day-to-day activities on all assigned projects,
- Consulting with the Project Manager on items that will affect the budget or schedule.
- Reviewing manpower requirements and forecasts with the Project Manager,
- Controling project cost by ensuring that engineering design and purchased materials and equipment are compatible with the project scope specifications and estimated cost
- Coordinating the efforts of all the disciplines
- Utilizing the company gated process of project management,
- Supporting Construction/TAR (Turnaround) Coordinator,
- Coordinating with project controls for timely and accurate cost data including cost accrual reports.
- Minimum five years of project engineering/project management experience
- Minimum five years experience managing small/midcap projects
- Minimum of three years experience portfolio planning, development, and execution
- Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.
- Experience at a downstream or chemical manufacturing site
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or an equivalent discipline
- A demonstrated record of familiarity with the Capital Value Process and assorted Value Improving Practices (or other similar disciplined work processes to manage capital project activities)
- Experience in managing contractor relationships
- Demonstrated and effective leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as strong facilitation, influencing and negotiating capabilities
- PMP certification preferred
- PE License preferred
