Salary: 100 – 110k with 15% bonus target (bonus has consistently hit target and could be higher) excellent benefits, full relocation
This roles is part of a process technology group that provides high level support to production sites around the world. The focus is on process optimization of existing sites and technical support of expansions and new plant construction. Our client will be spending approximately 6 Billion $ around the globe on expansions and new plant construction. The initial expansion push over the next two years will also create a need for skilled PHA facilitation. The technology group senior engineers are expected to be able to lead PHA teams of 6- 7 people through a systematic review process. Travel will normally average 25% but can be as high as 50%. The first two years of this assignment would include a travel load that will most likely be closer to 50% with travel being across North America, to Europe and China.
Responsibilities
- Provides and implements technical assistance and responsibility during investment projects to ensure state of the art new production processes to save investment cost and production costs and assure necessary quality targets and safety demands.
- Provides and maintains technical assistance to defined production processes (e.g. increase of a plant’s availability, reduction of investment and production costs, debottlenecking, quality improvement, etc.)
- Finds and recommends concepts for expansions, targeting cost reduction, quality increase, production availability, etc.
- Acts as Lead Process Engineer by supervising, organizing, and coordinating a team of process engineers to provide technical support during the basic engineering, detail engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup of new production processes.
- Approves basic process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, Equipment Specifications) prepared by process team members and approves process related documentation prepared by other engineering disciplines on capital projects and/or ESRs.
- Approves select documentation prepared by Engineering & Construction firms on capital projects.
- Prepares process engineering standards, practices and procedures.
- Provides and organizes process-related technical expertise in case of technical acquisitions.
- Maintains and enhances contacts to universities and research institutes to identify and evaluate new developments in process engineering in the USA.
- Ensures and provides exchange of information and establishes relationships with other plants in order to utilize these valuable resources for improvements. Coordinates and organizes technology transfers to and from Europe.
- Creates and defines strategies for future development in cooperation with production, research and development, applied technology and Manager Process Analysis / Manager Process Design. In addition, initiate development work, define the scope for these projects, as well as set time schedules and cost estimates.
- Responsible for all the basic process information and for all aspects of safety and environmental protection within capital projects as Project Responsible on capital projects.
Requirements
- BS or MS and/or PhD in Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 10 years experience in process engineering or process technology in the chemical industry.
- Detailed knowledge of process techniques in mechanical and thermal processes, process design, manufacturing technology and automation of processes.
- Extensive knowledge of advanced chemical engineering computer tools is essential.
- Being agreeable to possible transfer to European operations for a restricted period of time is required. Foreign language skills would be plus. German or Chinese being preferred.
- Human relation skills with emphasis on verbal and written communication.
- Business acumen and the ability to sell ideas
