As the Instrument Engineer – Technical Lead at a large oil refinery you will have site technical authority in the area of Instrumentation / Controls to develop, maintain and interpret instrument and control related technical practices. You will: recommend approval or denial of requests for deviations to instrument / controls to the Site Engineering Authority, develop expectations and provide them technical oversight of contract engineering firms’ instrument engineering efforts, foster a consistent design philosophy including the use of and interpretation of engineering technical practices and compliance with regulations, provide instrument engineering technical expertise/support for capital projects, interface with reliability and process control engineering groups on individual projects and long term planning efforts.
Key accountabilities:
- Identify and contribute to strategic decision-making for instrumentation systems on key Projects.
- Provide technical guidance and direction on instrument design, application, installation, and operating practices.
- Provide instrument technical quality assurance as required for Major Projects and Operating Units.
- Champion HSE practices and procedures with respect to instrument, including guidance on company, industry, and regulatory directives.
- Participation in project peer reviews and incident investigations.
- Manage contractors and consultants and provide technical assurance for their work.
Qualifications :
- BS Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in Instrument Engineering on oil/gas/petrochemical facilities.
- A broad knowledge across the Instrument Engineering discipline.
- A personal commitment to delivery of outstanding performance in Health, Safety and the Environmental areas.
- Demonstrate strong capability in team work and coaching others to achieve success.
- Registered Professional Engineer –Preferred
