Electrical Engineer – Power Distribution #1065

Location: Large Petrochemical Complex in Houston
Salary: 110 – 120k plus profit share, 9/80 and full relocation

This position provides electrical high voltage power engineering support to improve reliability of site electrical distribution and utilization equipment. You will work closely with operations and maintenance personnel to improve performance of electrical power systems. Additional responsibilities include optimization of preventive maintenance procedures, participate in Reliability Improvement Teams and activities to improve system reliability, perform in-depth investigations to properly identify and eliminate root causes of incidents, complete and close findings as required, support both unit outages and major turnarounds, and identify, prioritize, and resolve leveraging electrical power issues.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years experience in electrical power distribution systems in the refining/petrochemical industry. Must demonstrate an in-depth working knowledge of applicable engineering codes/standards (NFPA, NEC, IEEE, etc..), low and medium voltage switchgear/MCC design and operation, motors, UPS systems, system studies (short circuit, load flow, motor starting preferably using SKM), relay coordination and application (including multifunction microprocessor based relays), hazardous area classification, electrical safety and electrical system operation and maintenance through 138-kV. Provides QA/QC requirements for new and existing installations and participates/supports projects. You must have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization. Strong mentoring skills to grow and develop electrical engineers in power distribution engineering. Critical analytical skills are needed to effectively evaluate equipment performance and problems. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are critical for the resolution of issues associated with completing day to day activities. Successful candidate must exhibit an understanding of business processes and procedures, reliability processes and work flows, and be able to actively seek continuous improvement.
